Forum held in Geneva on Information Society and Marginalization moderated by Iran's IUST

 Wednesday May 15, 2013 in Geneva, Swiss, Iran University of Science and Technology held a thematic workshop on the role of the IT industry in gross domestic production, with a focus on central challenges and future horizons in the current global financial crisis.

 A well 1300 people from 140 countries attended Geneva's IT thematic workshop, entitled the WSIS Forum 2013. Dr. Hadi Shahriar Shah Hosseini, the workshop moderator and organizer and faculty at IUST's School of Electrical Engineering, presented papers from the faculty of different Iranian universities and research centers.

 Dr. Hamadoun I. Toure, the ITU Secretary-General, also participated in this conference through sending a video conference to the ICT festival on the global day of communications. He acknowledged Iran's active presence in international specialized communities through their quality of research, their holding of specialized conferences on the aforementioned topics, and their proposals for increasing the role of IT in economy.

 It is noteworthy that this thematic workshop on the role of the IT industry on gross domestic production held in Geneva is a continuation of the first conference regarding the fifth national program on Iran's development in 2012 held at IUST's School of Electrical Engineering.
