2nd International Conference on “Urbanism & Spatial Mobility” was held in IUST
On Saturday and Sunday, October 18-19, 2014 2nd International Conference on “Urbanism & Spatial Mobility” was held in IUST. The conference was Organized by Engineering Analysis of Spatial Arrangement Factors (EASAF) Research Laboratory , School of Architecture, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Ingénierie du Projet d’Aménagement - Paysage et Environnement (IPAPE), Ecole Polytechnique d’Aménagement, Univ. François-Rabelais de Tours, France. Spatial mobility is a way of organizing space. Mobility of all sorts and scales, whether related to transportation, information and knowledge, economy or energy, transcends boundaries and represents the mobile spatial dynamics in what is referred to as networked societies, frequently described by words such as flows and relations. A relational approach to territory can help understand the changes, an approach that integrates the realities of mobility not in territories based on proximity but rather on relationships that links places. Conference Theme was included From Physical Planning to the Planning of Flows and Relations, Analysis of Spatial Consequences of Rail Development, Spatial Mobility in Border Regions , Metropolisation of Urban Regions and Telecommunication and Urban Network Development Denis Martouzet, Professor, Polytechnic School, University of Tours, Team Manager (IPAPE) and Dr.Reza Kheiroddin Assistant professor in School of Architecture, Urbanism group Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) are the conference scientific secretary. In the opening ceremony Dr.Davaei the IUST vice chancellor for Research and Technology, Dr.Ekhlasi Head of Architecture faculty and Dr.Kheiroddin the conference scientific secretary have given their lectures to the audiences. This two-day conference had received 300 Articles and 27 articles were presented orally and 74 poster papers were presented in the conference. The Invited Scientific Committee was composed of Nathalie Brevet, Associate Professor, Polytechnic School, University of Tours, Team member (IPAPE),Laurent Bridel, Professor, Faculty of Geo-science, University of Lausanne, Switzerland ,Walter Leimgruber, Emeritus Professor, Human Geography Group, Faculty of science, University of Fribourg, Switzerland ,Denis Martouzet, Professor, Polytechnic School, University of Tours, Team Manager (IPAPE),Dominique Mignot, Professor, Joint scientific director - IFSTTAR, Member of the Executive Board of FERSI, Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of ETRR and Simon Marvin, Professor, Carillion Chair of Low Carbon Cities and Communities, Department of Geography, Durham University, UK. In this context, the aim of the conference was to discuss the newest findings regarding the theme in terms of both theoretical researches and case studies in order to create an understanding of, and debate issues related to, dynamics of space.
