   Research Site

The research site, comprised of undergraduate and graduate sections, provides a suitable space for student  research. There are 12  PCS,  and 8 computer systems, all with access to the internet.

·   Ph.D. research center


To provide an appropriate environment of research and study for Ph.D. students, and to facilitate their interaction with other undergraduate and graduate students, the center  has 3 study rooms and  a computer lab with 8 PCS connected to the internet.

The Industrial Engineering Laboratories


·  Precision Measurement Laboratory:


This lab focuses mainly on research and training activities pertaining measurement systems and physical quality control of parts and elements.

The main practices in the laboratory are quality control of mechanical parts for their dimensions, the surface leveling of angles to lay within necessary tolerance in 3 phases namely the produced parts,  in the production line; and the scrapped and out of dated or imperfect pieces of a more efficient  learning, the empirical practices are, conducted along with the theoretical training.

Some of the unique instruments of the laboratory include a range of mechanical measurement tools, electronic control tools, and a light measurement with tool 100 folds aggrandizement capability.

One of the modern and recently installed tools in the laboratory is the CMM system that is used both for measurement of parts with 1/1000 mm of accuracy and a map designing of parts.

The map is sent to the CNC system by professional software, and then the part is cut and prepared by CNN according to the information provided by CMM.











·   Industrial safety laboratory:


The industrial workers are usually subject to many unsafe conditions and factors in the work place. This will not only cause  work accidents and the subsequent diseases, but also affect the work efficiency and production.

Safety engineers play an important role in establishing a safe working environment. They must recognize the unsafe factors in the work place and  measure, evaluate,  and compare such factor with the standard limits in order to adjust the safety regulations if necessary.

For this purpose, the safety engineers should be familiar with the laboratory measurement tools for industrial safety and should be able to apply the tools for safeguarding the industrial environments.

When a safety director of an industrial firm succeeds to recognize, eliminate or control the unsafe factors, he not only reduces the heavy medical and insurance costs due to accidents, prevents frame over payments but also increases the efficiency of the workers and the  production level of the firm. For this purpose, the industrial safety laboratory was established in 1996 and a number of  tools for measurement of physical as well as chemical risk factors have been installed or are being ordered.

Some of the measurement tools in the lab are :

  1- Meter sound level( without analyzer )

  2- Luxmeter

  3- Air sampling ( sassdust …)

  4- Gas eletector

  5- Stress wet bulb glob temperate (heat)

  6- Wet bulb glob (with analyzer)

  7- Noise dosimeter

The laboratory is hoped to develop to a research laboratory for industrial safety, aimed at removing the safety difficulties in industrial processes.

At present the laboratory is working as the center for quality research.









·   Time and Work Measurement Laboratory:


 The ever growing development of the technology and its complications call for application of economic skills and effective use of human resources, time, machineries, equipment, and materials at an optimum level.

Since the "time and work measurement" module has many practical dimensions, this lab aims to provide an environment for the students to feel themselves in the work space and apply the scientific findings in practices.

:: Welding workshop ::


·   Welding Workshop and Advanced Welding Laboratory:


 The workshop aims at training gas and electricity welding approaches for the students of the School of Industrial Engineering,  and other schools and the university. In addition the advanced welding lab is capable of providing services for applicants inside and outside the university.

The instruments existing in the workshop are electricity, gas, CO2, argon and plasma welding systems. The eddy current system and the ultrasonic system are considered among unique systems of the laboratory. At present the process of repairing, rebuilding and changing of the scrapped and out- of- dated gas welding systems has been completed and the physical development of the workshop, that increases the workshop space by 4000 squared meters, is in progress.

A central gas piping is also in progress for the safe- keeping of Acetylene and CO2 capsules.  

Through a grant from the Islamic Development Bank, the modern and advanced equipment of non destructive testing will be installed in the newly constructed area of the lab and utilized in near future.

With the activities already done and the future plans of the laboratory, it is hoped that the center promote to one of the main professional centers in advanced welding technologies in the country.

·   Machinery workshop


Machinery operations, Production of the required parts for research projects, and presentation of professional trainings are undertaken in this workshop by more than 70 machines

·   Advanced machinery workshop and modern production systems


 The main activities of the laboratory are usage and operation of NC and CNC machines and their computer programming, the principals of FMS lines designing and operation By providing the undergraduate and postgraduate  students with appropriate services, this lab plays an effective role in the advanced technological research and modern production systems in the country.

·  Multimedia Equipped Classrooms


The instruction classrooms in the school of industrial engineering are equipped with computers with internet connection and video projectors that help with a better presentation of lectures for teachers and a more efficient learning for students. At present there are 10 multimedia classrooms in the school





·  Computer Site No.1


This site is equipped with 15 PCS with internet access, intelligent bound and video projectors. It is usually used for I and II lectures instruction of the courses drawing.  Considering recent software developments and the necessity of familiarizing the students with the modern sciences, this class provides essential facilities for learning principles of through utilization of the course drawing by the existing software.




·  Computer Site No.2


This site encompasses 17 PCS computer systems with internet connection, and a video projector. It is used for courses that require the access of  students to the internet, and also courses including software training.





·  Conference Hall


The conference hall, located in the fifth floor of the School, with a capacity for 30 persons, encompasses equipments such as a PC, a video projector, and an intelligent board, that provide an appropriate environment facilities for holding meetings, post graduate vivas, and internal conferences.




·  Postgraduate Viva Room 


The recently established viva room of the School, with a the capacity of 30 persons, is equipped with appropriate tools for a wide range of presentations, including the student vivas and seminars. The room has advanced computer systems, a video projector, an LCD color TV with connection to the computer.


·  Meeting hall


This hall is a suitable place for holding conferences, student sessions, lectures and vivas. It has the capacity of 120 persons and is equipped with a multimedia system.
