Iran University of Science and Technology was awarded the 2012 International Information Society, Geneva Swiss award On Wednesday May 15,2012 Iran University of Science and Technology and the institute of Information Technology were given the 2012 International Information Society Geneva Swiss award (WSIS). This award has been granted for the development and research projects pertaining strategic international documents in Information Technology. With the moderation of Dr. Hadi Shahriar Shah Hosseini, and cooperation of faculty members Dr. Majid Naderi and Sayyed Mohammad Razavizadeh from the School of Electrical Engineering at IUST, the 2012 WSIS award was granted by Dr Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication ::::::::union:::::::: (ITU), and by Iran’s Professor Hakim Jawadi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The development and research projects began in 2011 by the request of the Information Technology committee. Shortly after IUST held a conference on February 2011 entitled “Foundational Grounds for a National Committee of Information Society.” These factors led to the selection of the aforementioned research projects from among 175 other International Information Society projects in line with c11. The Islamic Republic had also attended the previous two WSIS (2005 and 2003) holdings. Finally, countries have come to an agreement to prepare a ten year program in 2015, to set an 11 step goal for the advancement of Information Technology.
