Effect of operating conditions on pervaporation of methanol- water mixtures: Part 2

Ali Bakhshi and Toraj Mohammadi, Omid Ghaffari Nik, and Abdolreza Aroujalian

This article provides details of a study that investigated the effect of operating conditions on the pervaporation of methanol–water mixtures. Part 1, which was published in the November 2006 issue of Membrane Technology, offered an introduction and described the experimental set-up. Part 2, which appears here, sets out and discusses the results of this research.

The first part of this article was published in the November 2006 issue of Membrane Technology. This second instalment of this provides further details of the swelling of the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane in methanol–water mixtures, and considers the effects of the feed concentration, feed flow-rate, feed temperature and the duration time on permeation flux.
