Introduction
Emulsions of water, oil and solids are formed in a number of industries where immiscible organic and aqueous phases are in contact with each other. A large amount of liquid waste in the form of oil in water (o/w) or water in oil (w/o) emulsions is generated in process industries such as petrochemical, metallurgical and transportation industries. Hence, demulsification becomes one of the most critical processes associated with the industries. Only a few papers described the separation of emulsions [1–3]. In this research, the effect of influential factors on the separation of oil from oily wastewater was investigated.
