About IUST's School of Electrical Engineering:

This College started out in 1928, at the same year when Iran University of Science and Technology was established. Since 1972, a total of 5639 students have graduated with a B.Sc degree in EE. During this period, 1684 M.Sc and 91 Ph.D. degrees have also been awarded.

The college of Electrical Engineering is located in two separate buildings and the construction of a 3rd building is under way. The two existing buildings are dubbed "old" and "new" EE sites with the "old" site containing the library, computer lab, and educational and research laboratories.

The main EE building ("new" site) is dedicated to the classrooms, the faculty and staff offices, and an auditorium. These two buildings have an area of almost 12800 square meters in total.

The construction of the 3rd building with an area of 17500 square meters is to be completed in two years. This college has 51 faculty members, of which 7 are professors, 24 are associate professors, 17 are assistant professors, and 3 are lecturers. A number of 30 people work as staff members. At the present time, this college is hosting 587 undergraduate students, 531 MS.c. students, and 186 Ph.D. students. The fields of study in this college are: Electronic, Communication, Power, Control, Bioelectrical Engineering, and Secure Communication.

In 2006, the EE College was recognized as the center of excellence in automation and power systems applications by the Iran ُ s ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

In addition to educational laboratories, 40 research laboratories are currently active.

The dedicated library located in the "old" building has more than 8000 books in all related engineering subjects. There are also a number of IEEE, IEE, and Persian journals and transactions and more than 2500 dissertations. More than 100 computers in the EE computer site are in operation and are connected together through two local networks. The first Iranian Electronic Research Center was established in IUST through the cooperation of EE faculty members hosting a number of very specialized research groups in which many MSc and PhD students are actively involved.

This school has an ongoing scientific cooperation with Moscow's International center on Power Engineering , France's Monpolie reseach center on Electronic and Microelectronic Engineering, and England's Northumbria University .
