Following Prof. Yuri Tonkonogov's request a session was held at the Office of International and scientific Cooperation on Oct. 21, 2007. During this session Prof. Tonkonogov, the Deputy First Vice- Rector and General Manger of Innovation Projects of Tomsk Polytechnic University, introduced the University and the grounds for cooperation between the two universities were discussed.

  The attendees in the session were Prof. Golestani Fard, Director, Office of International and Scientific Cooperation, representatives from IDRO (Industrial Development and Renovation Organization), IUST's College of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, College of Mechanics, and College of Physics. A general Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the end of the session.
