  Research Area                                                                                                                               


Understanding and using the process by which nature makes materials in order to design and fabricate new nanomaterials and nanobiomaterials for biomedical applications is the focus of our research. Our work is very interdisciplinary in nature and brings together the fields of chemistry, materials sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, medical sciences, pharmaceutics, mathematics, physics and engineering. The current research topics include:

1) Optimization of electrochemical biosensors for diagnostic applications,

2) Modeling of biosensors and physiological processes,

3) Design and synthesis of biocomposite materials that show exceptional charactristics, 

4) Surface modification matrials applied to high surface area catalysts, biosensors and environmental remediation.

5) Bioactivation of materials responsible for orthopedic application,

6) Nanostructuring materials for industerial and biomedical application.
