توضیح
|
- Presents new approaches to the problems of structural mechanics employing the concepts of graph theory
- Studies topological properties of structures using simple methods, providing valuable insight into the connectivity of structural models
- Identifies the different properties associated with a structure and treats these separately using the appropriate mathematical tools
- Provides efficient computational methods for the analysis of structures, using sparse, well-structured and well-conditioned structural matrices.
In this new edition, efficient approaches are developed for the analysis of large-scale systems. Many of the concepts presented are applicable not only to skeletal structures: they can equally be used for the analysis of other systems such as hydraulic and electrical networks. New material includes: - A novel application of symmetry for calculating the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of some special matrices, graph matrices and dynamic behaviour of vibrating systems
- Vector spaces associated with graphs are added to the first chapter to provide a better understanding of the methods presented in a later chapter
- An efficient algorithm for planar embedding of space structures, in order to increase the applicability of the embedding techniques used.
Readership: - Researchers in Computational Mechanics and Applied Mathematics.
- Structural analysis courses at PhD, MSc and Bsc levels for Civil and Mechanical Engineering.
